BikeRadar tester Simon Withers details the features and technologies, including the lightweight aluminum frame, made from ALUXX SL material, and some component highlights including the Giant rims and tires.
“It climbs steadily and descends pretty decently too, and I appreciated the slick Giant P-SL1 tires, with the softer, grippier front and harder-wearing rear,” he wrote. “They’re nominally 25mm but measure closer to 27mm on the widish Giant PR2 rims.”
Withers also appreciated the handling and versatility of the Contend SL, writing: “Handling from the Contend’s OverDrive steerer is perfectly controlled, and the bike is pretty much ideal if you’re looking for a single machine to cover virtually every base when it comes to road riding.”
Summing it up, BikeRadar offered this verdict: “Another fine Giant all-round road bike at an attractive price.”
