2013 Seminole CycleFest

The ‘Seminole Cycle-fest’ was spawned from the dream of several ‘Central Florida’ cyclists who desired to offer a means by which both cyclists and the broader community could express their support and gratitude for our public safety and public care institutions. The core event has been a pair of unique bicycle rides through Seminole County with full escort from the Seminole County Sheriff Motor Unit. After the first few years, the event quickly grew out of its original start/finish in Lake Mary to its current venue at Ft. Mellon Park in Sanford.

Among the groups we recognize for their sacrifice are our military veterans. This year, as in years past, we will recognize our veterans and support service organizations. Our affiliation with W.I.R.E.D. Athletes (Warrior: Integrating Reconditioning Educating Developing) a national veterans service athletic organization provides us a link to recovering veterans through sports.
This year the event will kick off Veteran’s Week with the rides on November 3. Riders will depart Ft. Mellon Park in skill groups starting at 8:30am. Each group will have its own Motor Unit escorts.

This year we will have special guests from the Marine Corps Cycling Team and some of the W.I.R.E.D. Athletes who dominated the podiums at this year’s Warrior Games cycling events.
