Road magazine has chosen the 2015 Defy Advanced SL as its Endurance Bike of the Year, praising the new model for its light weight, versatile performance and smooth riding quality on all types of road surfaces and terrain.
“This bike can nimbly climb the most precipitous mountain passes, efficiently accelerate through a speeding peloton and competently soar over the roughest parcours,” wrote the staff at Road. “Best of all, there are no gimmicky superlatives plastered across the frame—it’s simply a road bike tuned to be as versatile as possible.”
Comparing it to other endurance road bikes, Road editors pointed out that the Defy Advanced SL stands alone in many ways.
“The frame is incredibly light compared to its category rivals,” they wrote. “At 870 grams (size medium), it’s in a class of its own.”
And, finally, the editors also gave a nod to the style and design of the Defy Advanced SL, noting that “the bike maintains a sleek look that is capable of seducing the most ardent roadie even though the Defy can be ridden beyond the confines of finicky paved roads.”
