Big Updates for Kona’s MTB Hardtails This Year

With new Kona models arriving at our bike shop over the next couple of weeks, we’re doing a series of posts here on our blog to introduce the new bikes. Keep an eye here all week for rad new bikes and updates to current models. Today we bring you the first arrivals of the freshly updated MTB Hardtail collection.

The Legendary Kona Ride

Kona’s heritage is in simple and capable mountain bikes. Names like Explosif, Cinder Cone, and Fire Mountain are instantly recognizable. Classic in name but modern everywhere else, Kona’s MTB Hardtails incorporate three decades’ experience honing the legendary “Kona Ride”.

With a sleek Honzo-esque aesthetic, improved standover clearance, and streamlined cable routing, the 2018 collection of Kona hardtails is our best yet. All the way from Lana’i to Lava Dome, Cinder Cone to Kahuna, these capable hardtails are the gateway to the Kona Ride.

Cinder Cone

One of the longest-standing models in our line has evolved from steel frames, 26-inch wheels and thumb shifters into the modern 27.5-inch, 11-speed fun bike it is today. While this current version resembles the first Cinder Cone in name only, the heart of the bike remains the same.

Kahuna

Everything you need out of a cross-country hardtail, with a little bit of “want” thrown in for good measure. What you need is a light, stiff, sturdy aluminum 29er with the perfect geometry that loves to climb and lives for long days in the saddle. What you want is the right spec of a SRAM 11-speed drivetrain, RockShox fork and Shimano Deore hydraulic brakes hanging on the frame. The Kahuna is the perfect balance of your wants and needs.

Blast

What makes hardtail mountain bikes so much fun? Is it the snappy aluminum frame and suspension fork that tame the toughest of trails? Maybe it’s the wide gear ranges and the fast rolling 27.5-inch wheels that make molehills out of mountains. Whatever the combination is, we know you’ll have a Blast.

Lana’i

The heart of a mountain biker and the versatility to do it all are at the core of the Lana’i. Built with a philosophy of making the right bike for the right user, the Lana’i sizing includes a 26-inch wheel size for smaller riders, while the rest of the line hits the trail with a 27.5-inch wheel. Whether it be gravel paths, light singletrack or just getting around town, the Lana’i is your entry to adventure.
